Earth Day Release - 'Advocate for a Blue-Green Planet'

‘Advocate for a Blue-Green Planet’ ©Susan Clare

Sir David Attenborough has long been a source of inspiration to me. His indomitable, yet gracious, upbeat approach in the face of devastating climate change and species loss is completely admirable. At the time of painting, he is 95 and still working hard for the planet.

I was inspired to paint his portrait in a special way that related to the precious nature of our little blue-green world. Whilst this colour palette was a challenge, I think it speaks the message he would like us to hear.

This image is now available in prints of various sizes and mediums. Larger sizes are in special limited editions.

With Sir David’s approval, I have pledged to give 50% of all the profits to the Seven Oaks Sanctuary for Wildlife in Runaway Bay, Jamaica.

Run by environmental scientist, Wendy Lee, this sanctuary houses, feeds and protects all the parrots rescued from the illegal pet trade - protected species that can no longer feed themselves in the wild. She also receives injured and rescued snakes and other birds. Wendy has no formal funding and runs this service almost single-handedly. You can read more about her amazing story on my blog with the Yellow-billed Parrot painting. (Prints of the parrot painting also raise funds for the Seven Oaks Sanctuary.)

To make it as easy as possible for you to order prints of this portrait, I have some available on my UK website, here. There’s a choice of the Open edition small mounted paper print, or a larger sized paper gicl´ee print in a limited edition, with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Prints, on a variety of other media, like canvas, metal and acrylic, are available in similar editions from my US website, http://www.susanclarefineart.com. Small Open Editions here, Limited Editions in larger size formats here.

Please order from whichever website will give you the easiest shipping - after all, we want to keep down the carbon footprint and mileage , whilst helping the wildlife.

I hope you will enjoy having my interpretation of the portrait of this inspiring human being (Sir David Attenborough) in your home or office, school or clubhouse and also enjoy the knowledge that you have helped with the rescue parrots, too.

Many thanks for your support,

Susan
