Coral Crevice

This statement piece (125 cm sq) is inspired by a beautiful crevice along the North Coast of Jamaica where these Black Bar Soldierfish play. The painting was created with texture and found plastics, to raise money for the White River Fish Sanctuary, in collaboration with the Jamaica Inn Foundation. 'A thing of the Past?'

This underwater reef scene, in pure watercolour, captures some of the corals and invertebrate life which are threatened by the rising sea temperatures currently experienced during the summers, resulting from global warming.

A Few of My Favourite Fish

Some of my favourite fish species seen regularly on the shallow reefs in the Caribbean, painted in Daniel Smith paints, featuring semi-precious stones in their pigments. This week has been all about Jamaica, celebrating our two public holidays in the first week of August and tomorrow, 6 August, 2022, being the 60th Anniversary of Independence.

I was thinking about the flag colours: Black, Green and Gold and felt

over 30 years ago...

I went to Jamaica using my sub-aqua training as a passport to a 6 month travel adventure - which turned into a fully fledged career in scuba diving.

Since returning to the UK in 2013, I have been searching for a way to share my love of the underwater world through my art. My latest body of work celebrates the creatures, colours and atmospheric depths that inhabited my daily life in the Caribbean reefs.
